Robert J. Moriarty, Jr. has a broad commercial and residential real estate practice, representing buyers, seller, developers and lenders. In addition he has a concentration on complex commercial and residential title matters including review of title abstracts prepared by an in-house staff of title examiners; preparation of title reports, title insurance commitments, title insurance preliminary binders, title certifications, and title policies and the resolution of title issues on behalf of title companies, law firm clients, developer clients and institutional Lenders. He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law . He is a founding partner of Marsh, Moriarty, Ontell & Golder, P.C. in Boston. He is admitted in both Massachusetts and in New Hampshire.

He has been a member of Real Estate Bar for Massachusetts Title Standards Committee since 1984 and served for several years as the Chairperson of that Committee; He has been the principal draftsperson of several standards while on the Committee. Mr. Moriarty served as President of the Real Estate Bar Association in 2006 as member of the Executive Board of REBA as well as co-chair of the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee and a member of several other committees. He is a frequent lecturer for both REBA and MCLE on complex title matters.

Mr. Moriarty served on the Land Court Guidelines Committee, a bench-bar committee formed by the Land court to update its practices and procedures for recording and filing of documents with the Registry Districts. He is AV peer rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been selected a “Super Lawyer” in the area of Real Estate law by Law & Politics Magazine, a peer rating system in which less than 5% of all lawyers are selected, in the area of real estate in each of the years in which such designations have been made.

Mr. Moriarty has served as an expert witness in matters before the Massachusetts Land Court, Superior Court and US Bankruptcy Court for Massachusetts.
From 1984 to 1993 he was a member Town of Topsfield Planning Board and served as its Chairperson from 1988 to 1993. He has been a member of the Town of Topsfield Zoning Board of Appeals since 1999 and has served as Chairperson since 2001.
